Multiplayer for Kerbal Space Program 1.12.5 with a dedicated server and one clock shared by everyone.
This download is the mod, for every player. Whoever hosts the game also needs the server, which is a separate download: MultiKerbal Server 0.1.0 (Windows, Linux or macOS, needs the free .NET 10 Runtime).
Install
- Unzip the download. You get one folder,
MultiKerbal.
- Move that folder into your KSP
GameData folder, next to Squad.
- Start KSP: the MultiKerbal window appears in the main menu. Fill in your name and the server address and press Connect and play.
No other mods are needed. Everyone, server included, must use the same version. Full instructions, including how to set up the server, are in the README on GitHub.
Features
- Shared clock. The universe runs at the slowest warp among players who are at the Space Center, the tracking station or in flight. Warp settings let you accept other players' warp automatically (up to a maximum, under the conditions you tick, or while you are away from the keyboard) or refuse it automatically.
- Vessels between players, in flight, in the map and in the tracking station, labelled with their owner and filterable by vessel type.
- Owner and access per vessel. Each vessel belongs to whoever launched it and is private, shared or public: that decides who else can fly, recover or delete it. Owners can hand over, give away or release a vessel.
- Docking between players. A free vessel that comes within 2.2 km is taken over by your game's physics, so ports touch, things collide and vessels merge like in single player.
- Shared control. The pilot can name another player co-pilot; the co-pilot's controls travel over the network and add to the pilot's. You can also ask for control or watch a nearby vessel with the controls locked.
- Mod checking. The server remembers the first player's mod list and shows you, before you enter the game, what matches and what is missing.
- Spanish and English, chosen by a setting or by KSP's own language.
Known limits
- A player is identified only by name: while a vessel's owner is offline, somebody else could join under that name. The server password is the only protection.
- Watching another player's vessel only works within 2.5 km of it.
- Career mode is not synchronised: games are sandbox.
- Quicksave, quickload and revert are disabled, since nobody can travel back in time on a shared clock.
