ManuverTrails adds long volumetric lifting-surface trails and realistic wingtip vortices to aircraft in Kerbal Space Program.

This is separate from Manuvering Vapor. ManuverTrails creates the long condensation trails behind lifting surfaces; Manuvering Vapor creates the broad, short-lived cloud that stays over the wing during intense maneuvers. The two mods may be installed together.

The trail positions and visibility are calculated from the craft's real ModuleLiftingSurface geometry and live lift forces. Centerline body lift, vertical fins, and weak non-wing controls are filtered out.

Features:

  • Responds to local lift, G-force, airspeed, altitude, atmospheric density, lighting, and aircraft size.
  • Groups connected wing panels and controls into aerodynamic wing groups.
  • Normal aircraft produce roughly four to six evenly distributed trails.
  • Stock flight-toolbar setting controls the maximum visible trails from 0 to 64; default is 6.
  • The cap keeps the strongest aerodynamic lanes and applies immediately.
  • Supports multi-part, swept, and canted wings.
  • Smooth lower-atmosphere TrailRenderer wakes and curved high-speed LineRenderer wakes.
  • No dependencies and no craft or save-file changes.

Installation:

  1. Exit KSP.
  2. Remove GameData/WingtipVortex if installed.
  3. Copy the ManuverTrails folder into GameData.

Final path: GameData/ManuverTrails/Plugins/ManuverTrails.dll

Do not install WingtipVortex and ManuverTrails together because both contain the same trail effect lineage. Manuvering Vapor is a compatible separate companion effect.
