Unknown Part Skipper

Load craft files and save-game vessels even when some of their parts are no longer installed. Unknown Part Skipper removes only the unavailable parts in memory instead of letting stock KSP reject the entire craft or delete the vessel.

In the VAB/SPH load browser, the mod lists every missing part and lets you cancel or load without those parts. The cleaned craft goes back through KSP's normal editor pipeline, so it remains editable, mergeable, and re-saveable. Launch-site and save-game loads are cleaned silently. Interactive editor or flight recoveries show one concise result; background vessel cleanup does not flood the HUD.

The cleanup also repairs attachment nodes, surface attachments, symmetry, parent links, part indices, and the vessel root. Version 6.0.0 removes craft descendants disconnected by a missing structural part instead of leaving hovering orphan pieces. It also removes per-background-vessel HUD and warning spam while preserving the safe stock boundary for vessels whose every part is unavailable. Version 5.1.1 additionally prevents an all-unknown craft from reopening the same load dialog forever and falls back to KSP's stock error handling if its custom dialog cannot open. Version 5.1.0 handles invalid part prefabs, removes orphaned save-vessel subtrees, promotes the largest surviving component when the root is missing, and correctly remaps indexed surface attachments with collider suffixes.

Your original .craft files are never changed on disk. Cleanup happens only in memory unless you choose to save the cleaned craft yourself.
