Restock Recolour is a mod which allows a player to paint their creations from the Restock and Restock+ mods basically any color they want. When this mod is used alongside the recoloring TURD configs for Stock, MakingHistory, and BreakingGround, you will be able to recolor every single part from Restock, Restock+, and the expansions, if you have them installed. Every single part means 494 parts altogether.

This was not the first attempt to bring recolors to Restock. I can recall at least two others that didn't really get off the ground. But about 2 years ago, @likeproblem , @Spartwo , @EmberSkyMedia and myself (@UncleMateo ) got together with the goal of bringing color and added creativity to one of KSP's most popular mods. We have faced an almost endless array of setbacks, problems and struggles to get this mod to you, the player. We almost didn't make it. Work on this project came to a halt for about a year. A competing mod threatened to undermine everything we had worked for, but ultimately it was left unfinished and never reached the popularity of TURD. When I saw that had happened, I decided to come back to try and finish what we started and had worked so very hard for, and the other contributors were of the same mind. I want to thank all the contributors and the entire Kerbal community for making this possible!

This project isn't finished.

There is quite a lot of work to be done. We want consistency amongst parts in color-swathe, pattern, and actual appearance. We want all variants to be recolorable, if possible. And we want to minimize the number of recoloring tabs per part. (You'll notice some extreme examples among the engines, these were my doing and I intend to fix them soon, they were from before I relearned certain config writing techniques). Most of all, we want this mod to work for you, the player, in the best possible way. We want the parts to look nice when recolored, and we want regularity amongst parts so the whole ship looks nice after you put on the crazy paintjob. So regular update will still be coming! They just might be smaller and more precise.

Installation

The proper place for the TURD folder is inside the GameData folder: [GameData/TURD/TU_Restock/...] If the folders and files are not in the right place, the mod won't work.

Dependencies

  • ModuleManager
  • TexturesUnlimited
  • Restock/Restock+: this mod should work fine without ReStock+, but if it is installed, you will find the parts recolorable. ReStock is required.
  • A number of Stock/BG/MH parts are not affected by Restock at all. For the time being, you will need seperate configs in order to recolor these parts. Stock, BreakingGround, and MakingHistory all have their own seperate TURD configs. You could consider this a 'soft' dependency. It is not required but recommended.

Known Issues

  • Some top hatches refuse to be recolorable. The cause of this is not yet known.
  • DepthMask parts like engine intakes sometimes look transparent in the VAB. The issue disappears when you load into the world. The launch clamp has a similar issue and will not show up correctly in the VAB, but will show correctly when loaded into the world.
  • Some parts are recolorable but are glitchy or have some kind of issue (Please point these ones out on the forums or GitHub bug reports, besides the Klaw/GrabbingArms of which I am already aware)
